After much research, our highly anticipated 2012 Wedding Forecast is ready and I can't wait to share this information with all of you. The newest wedding trends for the upcoming year range from the look of your wedding to the flowers to the food to the favors....everything. Let's get started.

CATEGORY # 1: THE LOOK
Color schemes have got back to the classics. Right now it's the nudes - oyster greys, champagnes, nudes, pinks, pale gold and creams. With this said, patterns are getting bolder as colors are getting softer. Linens are heavier and more textured.

Luxe Candelabras in any material are in, so.....out with the chunky pillar candles and in with the tapers. If you are having your ceremony outdoors, hanging chandeliers make a wildly romantic statement.

CATEGORY # 2: THE FLOWERS
The flower of the year is the peony, which that is no surprise here but other fabulous flowers for next year are garden roses, ranunculus and frilly carnations, white mini calla lilies and of course the orchid.

CATEGORY #3: DRINKS
This years three words are the perfect 3 categories to choosing your bar menu.
ARTISNAL: Specialty drinks designed for your day are never out but the ingredients seem to be a little more intricate. For example, ingredients like frothy egg whites, elderflower liquor, and unexpected garnishes such as candied ginger or herbs. Signature drinks always a sophisticated edge to any reception.

TASTINGS: Plan tasting station style bars. For example one could be a tequila station and the other could be a scotch station with different selections of these types of liquors.

This is what I love about Florida– you can be at the beach, and if you have to be anywhere, the beach is not a bad place to be. Time stands still and the scenery is something that brings people from all over the country. So it obviously makes for one of the loveliest places to get married.

Plenty of brides love the pool blue color for their beach wedding but Shauna and Jeff choose to offset the pool blue and white color scheme with coral red, all the way down to the home made coral centerpieces the bride made.

Ideas for your 11/11/11 Wedding.

Memorable dates hold special charm for special events, and a big one is coming up soon—Nov. 11, 2011, or 11/11/11.

Brides can incorporate the "11" element in their weddings in fund ways and here are just a few cute ideas.
1. Have the reception before the ceremony and take your wedding vows at 11pm.
2. Make all your table numbers "11". This is a quirky way of playing a joke on your guests but you must be willing to have open seating.
3. Host a lunch wedding reception by starting your wedding ceremony at 11:11am.

Another neat symbolic touch comes from numerology, the significance of repeating ones is a representation of new beginnings.

How To Avoid Rehearsal Dinner Planning Disasters

The rehearsal dinner is one of the last things most brides are thinking about as they plan their wedding, but that doesn't mean there aren't ways you can mess it up.

DISASTER 1: Not sending out invitations for your rehearsal dinner.
Unless your rehearsal dinner guest list is just a handful of people (10 or less), you should send out some sort of invites. Your guests will appreciate knowing where to be and when.
DISASTER 2: Inviting some (but not all) out-of-town guests.
Traditionally, the rule of thumb for rehearsal dinners has been simply to invite the folks included in the actual wedding rehearsal. But today, many couples choose to include all out of town guests as well. No matter which way you go, it's a good idea to make a clear cut through your rehearsal dinner guest list - for example, inviting all or none of your out-of towners - to make sure no one gets offended. If you are not inviting your out-of-town guests, it's a good idea to make sure they have something else to do. Leave welcome bags with maps of the area and directions to your favorite restaurant in town (or your favorite take out place) so they feel taken care of when they arrive.

DISASTER 3: Thinking you don't need any kind of itinerary.
Even though the rehearsal dinner is a more casual get together, you still want to have some kind of game plan. Designate a distinct time period for any toasts and decide who will be giving them.

DISASTER 4: Assuming that your venue will provide the decor.
Although the amount of decorating you'll need to do depends on your venue, it's a good idea to do something to make our space feel special. Sure, your rehearsal dinner won't require as much work as your reception, but a few extra candles or flowers can go a long way in upping the festive factor.

DISASTER 5: Going too formal.
Don't upstage your main event. Regardless of your wedding style, you don't need to go over the top with your rehearsal dinner. If you are planning a super-formal reception, it might be a relief for everyone involved if the pre- and post-parties are a bit more low key.

Reception Question: Escort Cards

Q: "How do I alphabetize the seating cards for couples who don't share the same last name? Under his name or hers?"

A: I am asked this question by every single bride that I work with and I would like to set the record strait on the proper etiquette on this great planning question: The easiest solution is to provide a card for each guest. That would certainly eliminate any difficult decisions. However, this would mean you'd need almost twice the display space, which could pose a problem if your guest list is large.

A more space saving option: Use a single seating card for each twosome and follow the form you used when addressing your invitations. If the couple live together or are married, put the woman's name before the man's (and be sure to alphabetize by her last name). If an established couple does not share an address, however, each should get an individual card, just as they received their own invitation. If you sent an invitation with an "and Guest" notation, simply ask for the name of the person your friend is inviting before the wedding and make sure the date gets a separate seating card. And no, it does not matter whether you are closer to one than the other; you should be consistent in how you alphabetize your cards (which means no playing favorites).

Last, don't worry about whether your guests will have trouble figuring out which name to look under; they'll spot the trend quickly enough once they look at the display.

3 Etiquette Tips For Destination Weddings

1. Forewarn Your Friends. Tell your bridal party about the destination before you ask them to stand as one of your attendants, so they can gracefully decline if finances are tight. Make the trip easier on them my offering to help cover expenses or letting them choose their own dresses.

2. Get A Grip. Don't be upsat if some of your closest friends and family can't attend. Consider holding a second, smaller reception closer to home for anyone who can't make the trip.

3. Welcome Your Guests. Be sure to place gift baskets in each hotel room full of essentials for the trip (sunscreen, bug spray, water) and treats that will remind them of the setting. Postcards and local snacks are good options, as are directions to your favorite local restaurants, maps and a few takeout menus.

A hip and artsy wedding style means you may be the couple who loves to accessorize, and you drool over pillows with funky designs and city lofts with exposed brick. Bottom line: You don't want your wedding to look too wedding-y.

Your Details
-- Let your venue set the tone for your unique wedding style. Look into renting your favorite restaurant downtown or the atrium of your favorite art museum.

-- Choose an unexpected color palette. A few ideas: bright orange, steel gray and white; green and turquoise with pops of yellow; or eggplant and candy apple red.

-- Hire a live band for your cocktail hour and reception.

-- Come up with a statement-making decoration for the reception. Maybe it's an oversized chalkboard banner with a meaningful movie quote and your names and wedding date. it could also be a patterned fabric that you thread throughout - from the ceremony aisle to the table linens.

Watch Out For
With all of the fun, unique details, it can be tough to keep the style from looking messy and scattered. Stick to a color palette of no more than 3 to 4 colors and come up with a design (like your initials, thumbprints, a colorful patterned fabric or even a favorite album cover) to keep the wedding day details looking cohesive.

10 Ways to Save Up To $250!

These days, everyone's looking for easy ways to cut their wedding costs. Here are 10 great ways to trip your budget by $250.00 without even missing a thing.
1. List ceremony and reception details on a single invitation rather than printing separate cards (RSVP, reception, etc).
2. Turn your reply cards into postcards. Print RSVP info one one side, the return address on the other. You'll save money on return postage (28-cent vs. 44-cent stamps) and envelopes.

3. Make an in-salon appointment for your wedding day rather than having a hair or makeup pro come to you. House calls often cost extra.

4. Rent a luxury sedan instead of hiring a limousine. For the same price as booking a limo for a few hours, you'll have access to a swanky vehicle all day, or even longer. Pay a driver to play chauffeur for the day; just be sure the back seat is roomy enough for your dress.

5. Have a relative or close friend get ordained to serve as your officiant if your having a non-denominational wedding. Cover the ordination costs plus a fee and your covered.

6. Have your cake displayed on a small 30" round table. Your cake will be center stage and you won't have to spend additional money on another floral arrangement or other table decorations.
7. Ask your florist to provide fresh flowers for your cake topper. This will give your cake a romantic look - and many varieties of edible blooms (like roses) are very inexpensive.

8. Create custom candy favors. Wrap ribbon around cute favor boxes, then use a monogrammed sticker to tape ends into place. Buy candy in bulk....and done!

Can't decide on a color scheme for your wedding? Select your shade by answering the questions below.
THE BASICS
1. What's your favorite color? Build your scheme around the hue you love most. But don't just think pink or blue. Get specific: Is it teal or turquoise, raspberry or rose?
2. What does your site look like? Tangerine and lime probably won't work in a red and gold ballroom, so consider the dominant colors in your space before picking your colors.
3. Do you have a flower in mind? If your wild about sunflowers, consider a combination of yellow and orange. Adore green hydrangeas? Start picking out vibrant table linens.

Florist vs. Floral Designer: What's The Difference

How will they communicate with you during the months leading up to the wedding day to ensure that everything is happening on schedule?
There is no substitute for experience. Find out the number of weddings the consultant has planned, the number of years in business, and the experience he or she may have had at your venue.
If you have any unique cultural elements to your wedding, make sure your consultant is familiar with the customs.
Beopen and honest with your consultant. If you can share your concerns or fears regarding the wedding, they will be best prepared to orchestrate the day perfectly.
Be realistic. A consultant can make your life much, much easier, but they can’t make all the decisions for you, or make your crazy uncle behave at the wedding, or persuade your single groomsmen to stop hitting on the bridesmaids. When it finally arrives, just relax and enjoy your day!

There is no substitute for experience. Find out the number of weddings the consultant has planned, the number of years in business, and the experience he or she may have had at your venue.
If you have any unique cultural elements to your wedding, make sure your consultant is familiar with the customs.
Beopen and honest with your consultant. If you can share your concerns or fears regarding the wedding, they will be best prepared to orchestrate the day perfectly.
Be realistic. A consultant can make your life much, much easier, but they can’t make all the decisions for you, or make your crazy uncle behave at the wedding, or persuade your single groomsmen to stop hitting on the bridesmaids. When it finally arrives, just relax and enjoy your day!

Whether they're dressing up a church or establishing a pathway, aisle runners impart a regal quality, especially if they're made from heavy canvas rather than disposable paper. They come in man colors and can be custom painted. Keep in mind.

1. Lots of ceremony photos are taken from the back of the church,

so the runner will be prominent in your pictures.

2. Placing a runner on a potentially slippery surface like tile

or smooth wood is asking for trouble.

3. Order a runner that's longer than the aisle and can be secured at

both ends, so your dress won't drag the runner along with you.

4. If you lay a runner directly on grass, heels will go right through it.

Flowers In One Of Summers Favorite Shades: BLUE

More and more I am finding that brides are opting for blue flowers for their weddings and working with this color has been my single most exciting trend in weddings right now. Blue is a hot color right now and it can make for a beautiful theme for your wedding decorations, but brides assume that flowers in shades of blue are scarce. It's true that blue varieties aren't as abundant as some other bridal favorites, they do exist.

When it comes to blue flowers, it's important to remain flexible. Incorporating soft shades of grey or champagne will soften the blue palette with elegant sophistication. Blue florals are most abundant in spring and summer, so I suggest you choose one or two at most for your base.

Here are some blue varieties to consider:

Blue Cornflowers: cute, small flowers that look like they were just picked from a field.

Blue Delphinium: have height and are fabulous for aisle arrangements, altar arrangements, and buffets. These come in a range of shades, from light to dark blue, and even a rich purple.

Blue Eryngium: eye catching flowers that will bring a unique texture to your arrangements.

Blue Hyacinth: smell delicious! But do appear more purple than blue.

Blue Hydrangea: available year round in light blue and seasonally in a strong deep royal blue. When it comes to bouquets though, hydrangea should be the only flower used, as they wilt easily.

Blue Iris: a beautiful flower but can appear more purple than blue.

Blue Viburnum Berries: these are a fun, textural element that comes in the most fabulous shade of navy blue. These look even better shiny so have your designer spray "leaf shine" on them.

Tweedia: a sweet small flower that can be used as an accent piece in an organic type arrangement. These blooms can also be used in a boutonniere, but keep in mind that this is quite fragile.

Veronica: a deep shade of blue (almost purple) and a fun, spiky element that can bring a nice pop to your arrangements.

It is possible to order blue-dyed flowers, including dendrobium orchids, blue roses from Holland and blue carnations; however, my recommendation is to go with a natural choice.

A brief clarification will help guests know what is going during your vow exchange.

The Players
Name everyone participating in the ceremony, from the wedding party and users to the officiant and the parents. Include every one's full name, their role in the wedding, and if you want, a brief explanation of their relationship to you.

Significant Quotes and Thank-Yous
It's nice to write a thank-you to both sets of parents and to the guests. And, if there's space and you feel inspired, list a special quote or song lyric.

Remembrance
Some couples choose to pay tribute to deceased loved ones in their program either by listing names under a header, such as "We Remember With Love". There are no specific rules about how and where in the program this should go, bu a memorial on the back page is appropriate.

A Cover (Optional)
Include your full names, wedding date and location. if you want to save paper, include this info at the top.

* Monogram Tip - Don't put your new monogram on the program cover, your not married yet. Just stick to first names.

11 Things To Do At Your Wedding Rehearsal

Your wedding rehearsal is your last chance to cross all your T's and dot your I's as well as your first chance to enjoy your wedding. Here's how!

1. Transport Your Props - Make sure to bring with you your cake cutting set, toasting flutes, guest sign in book, unity candles, ring bearer pillow, etc. to pass off to your wedding planner. If she has them the day before you can ensure they are set up and ready to go for your ceremony before you arrive for your wedding.

2. Go Over Your Vows - Take some time at the altar to practice what you're going to say with your officiant. Practicing in the actual space will feel more real and you'll get an idea of how much you'll need to project your voice.

3. Find Your Holding Room - At your ceremony space you will want to map out where you and your bridesmaids will wait, separate from the Groom and his groomsmen. That way, you can get ready separately and stay hidden while guests are arriving.

4. Get Your Ducks In A Row - Decide in advance the order in which your wedding party will walk down the aisle. Pay attention to the way the two sides match up if you're pairing your bridesmaids and groomsmen will walk down the aisle.

5. Let The Officiant Do Their Job - Your officiant will explain the ceremony order, where the bridal party will stand and when (and if) they can take their seats.

6. Sit Out The Run-Through - Superstition says it's bad luck for the bride to practice the ceremony logistics with her husband-to-be before it's time. Instead, have your maid of honor take your place while you follow along from a chair in the front row.

7. Get The Party Started - Take the opportunity to catch up with loved ones in a not-too-hectic setting because come the wedding night, you'll most likely be pulled in too many directions to put in any real quality time with anyone.

8. Open Up The Floor - This is the time for people to give toasts that will not be toasting to you on your wedding night.

9. Put On A Show - Walk your guests down memory lane with a photo slide show.

10. Give Thanks - As dessert winds down, stand up and thank everyone for coming, highlighting the folks that made the dinner go smoothly. Thank your wedding party, parents and soon-to-be-in-laws with a small and thoughtful gift.

11. Issue Reminders - Double check that everyone in the wedding party knows exactly where to go for the next day, what they are supposed to bring and when they're expected to arrive. Printed schedules aren't a bad idea!

How to deal with a crappy venue-mandated coordinator

I was going through my wedding pics the other day (as married people do on occasion) and I got really pissed. Hiding in the background of several pictures, there's a little girl. She is a constant reminder of the chaos that was the venue-mandated wedding planner.

I could regale you with tales about how my coordinator seemingly did everything in her power to destroy my wedding, but I won't, as that'll make me sound like an ungrateful spiteful harpy. I also don't want to take anything away from what was, overall, a reallykick-ass awesome day. I will, however, tell you that her child photobombed my entire wedding.

It makes me even more livid now because I realize that most of it was my own fault.

If you've read about my wedding, you'll see I kept emphasizing the whole thing being "low maintenance." I was so obsessed with not becoming a Bridezilla that I turned intoa doormat. Which led to stress and anger at being walked on, which led to guilt for being stressed or angry because only Bridezillas get stressed or angry, right? Which led to even more doormat-ness in an effort to atone for being a Bridezilla, dragging me into a sucking whirlpool of loathing and self-imposed helplessness. This is stupid. Do not do this.

Learn from my mistakes:

[DISCLAIMER: I understand that there is the option of not using a venue who has a required coordinator. I also understand that there are many wonderful venues who have amazing coordinators in their employ. This is not aimed at them — may they live long in the company of baby bunnies. This is advice to people who are locked in with a venue-mandated coordinator, are noticing red flags, and are past the point of no return.]

Know the rules of your venue. If we had known in advance that we were required to use the venue coordinator, I would've been able to contact her earlier, and then, would have had time to choose another venue.
Have a plan of action. Have an outline of what your plans are, and focus on the information you need to perform them.
Be a bossy pants. This is NOT the same as being a Bridezilla. I shudder even saying this since it might be taken out of context, but, as a client, you are the boss AS LONG AS YOU ARE BEING REASONABLE. Bridezilla = If I don't get to use candles I will burn this fucker down! Doormat = "Can we have candles?" Boss = "Let's talk about using candles." And then, give options to choose from, "We plan on having candles. Are open flames acceptable or do we need to use battery powered ones?" If they ignore what you want to talk about, refocus the conversation. "Thanks for bringing that up, but I want to make sure that *insert x* is taken care of before we move onto anything else."
Complain early, complain often. If someone isn't living up to their end of the bargain, I go by a one-strike rule. They get one chance to fix it in a timely fashion, and if they don't, you go to their superior. And you keep doing that until it's taken care of. You are a CLIENT, and deserve to get your money's worth.
Establish expectations. I didn't do this because I was worried about making waves, and I really should have. If you are paying a coordinator, that time belongs to you, it shouldn't have to be shared with their children, or their cellphone, or anything else.
Have an additional emergency contact. In the case where it's 5AM, you're in the middle of a monsoon, and the coordinator (that you're paying for) isn't showing up, you need to have another number to call.
Employ a bouncer. In my case my usually meek and mild sister totally whipped out the talons when the coordinator started making unreasonable demands. Volunteering to be the bad guy was the best present she could possibly give me.
Follow up. If your coordinator was great, they need their boss to know that. If they sucked, their boss needs to know it. If it's the latter, my suggestion is to make two versions, the one you REALLY want to send (which you then print out and burn) and a "just the facts" version containing a bulleted list of what you were promised/expected, and how those were/weren't fulfilled. Bullets are magical little business dots that keep you on task and keep things from getting too personal. Plus it makes you look efficient!

So, now we'd like to know, what are YOUR tips for working with venue-mandated coordinators, that just don't quite "get it."

You’ve heard it so many times that you really believe it - “It’s the bride’s day!” But let’s face it - your guests are just that - guests - and there are some universal, unspoken wedding rules to keep in mind to keep your guests content.

Big gaps of time
If your wedding ceremony is late morning or early afternoon and you are having an evening reception (say, cocktail hour starting at 6 pm and dinner at 7 pm), you should definitely provide your guests with some ideas of what to do in between both events. Once you have your ceremony and reception venues settled, you can check out what’s around those areas for activities on the day of your wedding. This information can be provided in your invitations and on your wedding website. For my wedding, we included brochures of area museums and activities that our out of town guests could check out in our welcome bags. It was very well received and those who made a weekend out of coming to Boston really appreciated it. Of course, you may just have friends and family who would rather just hang out at a local bar between events to get the party started early.

Food
Your guests need to be treated well since they are there for you and that means no skimping on necessities. For example, if your wedding budget is $30,000, $20,000 of it shouldn’t go right to your gown. Food is by far, the most important expenditure of your wedding. In fact, 50% to 60% of your wedding budget should go toward the reception. If you are planning a simple cocktail reception only, you should still plan on having food there for your guests. No one wants their guests to be drinking for a few hours without any food. Work with your venue to have a proper selection of hors dourest that fit within your budget. If you are planning a cocktail hour with a dinner reception following, the amount of food is still crucial. As long as you provide an accurate number of guests to your venue, they can suggest the types and quantities of food to fit your budget.

No Alcohol
Whether you and the groom are non-drinkers or you think it would be best to skip offering alcohol to save costs, think again. Your guests will be disgruntled the entire evening if they can’t enjoy a few drinks at a celebratory event. If you are afraid of your wedding turning into a frat party because your friends like to enjoy drinks a little too much, just give your venue a heads up so they can make sure the bartenders can keep an eye out and know when to give the last drink to someone. If the host of the wedding can afford it, you should absolutely have an open bar. Those two little words are music to guests’ ears. It’s just another gesture to make your guests feel appreciated and let’s face it, if you are having an adult dinner party at your house, you aren’t going to make your guests pay for drinks, are you? If an open bar is not an option, a cash bar is a must. But at the end of the day, the option of should definately be considered.

Music
Having relaxing dinner music is very nice. But, once those plates are cleared, your band or DJ better be ready to switch the tunes. Number 4 on the Guest Gripe list poor music selections for after dinner. It’s called a reception for a reason. People want to have the option to dance (and not just slow dances). Work with your band or DJ to make sure there is music appropriate for all the age groups represented at your wedding.

The Bouquet Toss
I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but who ever catches the bouquet does NOT get married next. I have caught the bouquet many times in my younger years and I didn’t marry until much later. Keep in mind that the bouquet toss is optional. I did, just for the photo op. If you decide not to do a bouquet toss, people may not even notice. It’s a tradition that isn’t used that much anymore. And think about the last time you even saw a garter toss. Grooms trying to be funny pulling a pair of granny panties out from under a bride’s dress has seen its day, and well, it’s just not that funny anymore. If you decide to do a bouquet toss, PLEASE do not force anyone to participate. Single girls who want to join will (there will be some that will literally jump at the chance). After the age of 25 or 30, some guests may not want to be forced to the middle of the dance floor to have a “single” label on their forehead for the rest of the night.

The First Dance
Some guests enjoy looking forward to the first dance (maybe your immediate family and the photographer). But with so many slow dances that consist of the bride and groom merely swaying back and forth like a scene from a school dance from The Wonder Years, don’t be surprised if you see a few yawns on guests’ faces when you look at your wedding proofs. Want your guests’ attention? Choose a fun song and maybe get a few dance lessons in ahead of time. My husband and I chose to do a tango, mostly to try and do something different and to keep our guests’ attention. It ended up being hilarious since we both kept tripping on my dress, but it made for a room full of laughter for a few minutes and that was priceless.

With all these points, it’s important to treat your guests like you would want to be treated — and everyone will have a great time!

Mixing The Shapes

Who says you have to pick one table type and stick to it? It's common for guests to sit at rounds, while the bridal party is on display at a rectangular table. You can opt to have banquet tables, rounds or squares for your guest seating too.

PROS -
* The mixed look instantly adds texture to your space and doesn't increase costs much, if at all.
* You don't need to assign seating: guests can choose tables that work best for their group - a couple who doesn't know anyone else can go for a small round and your coworkers can sit at a large table.
* If your venue is small but your guest list is large, a custom seating plan is the way to go. You can fit small tables into nooks or corners and line long walls with banquet tables.

CONS -
* Unless you have a great eye, you'll probably need to enlist a pro to help with the floor plan so the reception looks stylish, not messy.
* If you offer small tables that seat four or fewer people, you may need to hire more servers or choose to have food stations or a buffet.
* The more kinds of tables and linens you have to rent, the more likely it is that there will be a mistake or miscommunication.

1-1/2 oz. vanilla-flavored vodka

2. Consider Your Wedding Style. - Hotels, country clubs and banquet halls are common choices because they are streamlines and most often include tables, chairs and standard linens. 3. Get The Details. - Once you've found a few potential venues, determine which of the sites will ensure your wedding flows perfectly. The biggest mistake brides make is booking a venue that is too small. Make sure every space, even the dance floor and the cocktail area, is big enough for your maximum guest list. Your dining space should be 12 feet per guest, minimum, and the dance floor at least 3 feet per guest.

4. Ask About Restrictions. - Inquire about potential venue rules. Some venues require you work with certain vendors. This could be convenient, since you won't have to spend lots of time shopping for vendors but this also has a down side. A few important questions to ask are as follows:
a. Are there noise regulations for music?
b. How many hours are included in the rental fee?
c. What are the charges for overtime?
d. How many other wedding are booked there that day?
e. What time will your designer be given access to the space in order to set up?
If any negotiations are to be made, the time to do it is before you sign the contract, not after. Don't depend on verbal agreements, get everything in writing.

5. Examine The Contract. - Don't sign anything on the spot. Take the agreement home and read all the fine print. Calculate the extra costs for insurance, staff, service fees, gratuities, cake cutting, corkage, trash removal, etc. You can try to negotiate those hidden costs, go with another location or move forward regardless of the charges. What is important is that the bill won't surprise you later.

Read on to find out the 10 most common mistakes brides make while planning their weddings...

1. "Hiring" a friend instead of a pro. Even on a tight budget, you're much better off paying a vendor with experience to take care of your wedding needs. Besides, don't you want your friends and family to enjoy your wedding instead of having to work through it, anyway?

2. Don't speed through your photos. Squeezing your photos into the first half hour of your cocktail hour will make you anything but at ease. If you don't want to see your groom before the ceremony, take pictures separately so that the only shots left for you to take after the ceremony include the both of you.

3. Don't be the last one in the stylists chair. Why? As busy as the dressing room will get you don't want your stylist have to rush through your hair and makeup to ensure your ceremony starts on time. It's not such a big deal if a bridesmaid needs to switch to a less complicated hairstyle if they are pressed for time.

4. Don't tell everyone your wedding plans. I know it's hard not to talk about your wedding but the more you share the more opinions you are going to get and plus, part of wowing your guests is surprising them. If everyone knows you will be changing into another dress then no one will be as impressed when you do.

5. Pick your attendants carefully. Bridesmaids and groomsmen should be closest friends a family. Period.

6. Avoid micromanaging your vendors. If you are confident you are choosing qualified professionals to work for your wedding, and they understand your vision, let them do their jobs. I know it's tempting to control every detail so you are guaranteed to love the results but you really won't have the time and the experience that your professionals do.

7. Don't blow your entire bridal fashion budget on your dress. Remember, you still need alterations, shoes, undergarments, shoes, hair accessories and jewelry.

8. You will regret it if your skip out of a videographer. Photos can only take you so far.

9. Think twice before you send a save-the-date to everyone you know. Reserve save-the-dates only for those guests you know will absolutely be invited to your wedding. Friends you are close with when you get engaged may be mere acquaintances by the time you get married.

10. Try not to get too attached to any one particular flower. When booking your wedding way in advance a florist can only sometimes guess which flowers will be available. Please think in terms of shapes and colors instead of specific flowers.

I am asked so many different questions with regards to wedding invitations and I wanted to pass along some information for the couples who are starting to think about how much they want to spend and how many they should order. Before you start shopping for your wedding invites, it will help to know how much you've budgeted and how many you will be needing to order. That will give you the price range of how much you have to spend per invite. Here are a few tips to remember:

~ Each couple, whether married or living together will need only one invitation.

~ If you're inviting two people who are a couple but not living together, they may receive only one invitation.

~ A child over sixteen, even if still living with their family, receives a seperate invitation. If more than one child over sixteen lives in a household, they may receive joint invitations, with the name of the eldest being listed first.

~ Don't forget to order invitations for yourself, your parents, your bridal party, and your officiant. You'll definitely want keepsakes.

If you've allowed an invitation budget of $450, then you can spend approximately $3.75 per invitation. Remember, the price includes envelopes and any inserts you order.

Be prepared to take some time to research lots of different styles of invitations, there are thousands of options available.

The spell cast by color can be subtle or blatant, but none of us is immune to its power. It affects the atmosphere of a room, the impressions we make when we meet someone for the first time, and the mood of a moment. In the context of a wedding, your choice of color can be especially important: All the details of the wedding -- the shoes, ribbons, flowers, dresses, candles, ring pillows, neckties -- are vehicles for color, and they work together to leave a lasting impression of the occasion.

One tool you can use when selecting colors is the color wheel (see below), a traditional device used to represent the colors of the spectrum and their relationship to one another. With the color wheel, you can see how some of your favorite colors -- whether of flowers or treasured keepsakes -- will work together. Beyond that, there are a number of things to consider.

There are seasonal criteria, for instance: Spring and summer are the perfect time for pastels, and summer is ideal for vivid colors as well. Autumn allows you to combine collections of brown, while rich jewel tones work well for holiday and winter weddings. Softly iridescent colors are best for daytime ceremonies and receptions; metallic neutrals, like bronze, gold, and platinum, work better at night.

Consider the environment of both the ceremony and the reception. If both take place in a garden in August, find out which flowers will be in bloom and decide what colors will best complement them. If the two events occur in different locales, choose a palette that works for both. A white church allows a lot of latitude in color choice, but a reception hall with a royal blue and gold patterned carpet will require a color scheme that doesn't compete. You might consider playing up the stronger color in the simpler, sparser church while toning it down for the reception room.

When using the color wheel, remember that a gentler effect is created by combining colors that lie adjacent to each other, such as green and blue, or yellow, peach, and orange. Combining dark and pale shades produces a richer effect. Colors that lie opposite one another will produce a vibrant, energizing combination, but it's best to keep one or both of the colors muted in this case.

You might also consider using different shades of a single color, varying the hue in intensity -- from ballerina pink to scarlet, for example. Finally, you can pair a color with white for an ethereal effect. Use many shades of the same color in all the accoutrements to avoid a monotonous look.

1. Neighboring colors, such as orange, peach, and yellow, mix without clashing.
2. Reds and greens are opposite colors, and like most opposites, at their brightest, they look more bold than beautiful together. When both shades are muted -- to mauve and citrus green, for example -- the effect is subtle and sophisticated.
3. Use the entire range of a single color, from pale to dark, and pair it with a neutral for a rich palette.
4. White is the traditional wedding color. Adding one color lends a dramatic spark.

If you're after some pizzazz, choose one basic color and an analagous shade, then go across the color wheel to add a complimentary accent. For example, if magenta is your basic color and red is the analogous shade, then accent those shades with lime green. The effect is vivid - think, for example, of how vibrant a purplish red rose looks surrounded by greenery. To ensure you don't end up with a color scheme that looks childish, stay away from contrasting primary and secondary colors (red and green, for example) and instead choose more subtle hues (magenta and lime).

Your wedding centerpieces can be the most admired arrangements in your wedding celebration since your guests will be staring at them for a few hours or more. But deciding what you want can be challenging. (Tall or short? Natural or highly-stylized? Flowers or something more?) Here's how to pick the best arrangements for your wedding.

Consider the size of the space. A room with low ceilings call for shorter centerpieces so the space doesn't feel cramped, while soaring spaces need taller centerpieces to fill in that dead air above the table.

Choose a cool container. Although simple glass bowls or vases are nice, you can also consider vessels with personality, like tin watering cans or teapots. We have tons of original options for you to consider...just ask us!

Include some unusual ingredients. Incorporate fruit or other non floral elements like feathers or faux jewels.

Go beyond the cookie cutter arrangements. While identical arrangements throughout the room give your wedding a cohesive look, they can tend to be a little boring. Ask your wedding designer about varying the look from table to table, whether you opt to keep everything in the same color family but using different flowers, or decide to use variations on the same color scheme, such as lavender flowers at one table and bright purple on another.

Think inside the vase. We are able to do so many cool vase treatments - using citrus slices, cranberries, coffee beans or other interesting things to line the inside and hide flower stems.

Cluster the look. Groupings of several small containers can create a cohesive look for your wedding...without being too cookie cutter.

Tipping has always been a personal expression of gratitude for service given and appreciated. The question of tipping those persons responsible for assisting you in your wedding planning is one of obvious importance and concern.

Gratuities are almost always added into the final bill, whether you have hired a private catering company or are using one of the finest hotel facilities. The question has been asked, "Is it proper to tip the servers, when I have already paid a gratuity in my contracted price?" The answer is, of course, "tipping has always been a personal expression of gratitude for service given and appreciated." For instance, if a particular server has spent his evening providing you service, over and above your expectations, and you choose to give that individual a "tip," that choice is entirely up to you. It should be given for extra special services only. It is not required, as the gratuity has, as noted, already been paid. The customary amount would be up to 15%.

Others falling into the above category, include catering managers, hotel banquet managers, waiters, waitresses, bartenders and bridal consultants. Tipping a hostess or captain would fall in the 1% to 2% range. Remember, this has already been added to your final bill and additional tipping is just that. Additional tipping!

Limousine Driver: A tip of 15% is the appropriate amount to be given to your limo driver. Be sure to read your contract, as the tip has often already been added into the final bill.

Florists, Photographers, Bakers, Musicians: Up to 15%.

Civil Ceremony Officials: (Judge, Justice of the Peace, City Clerk) In years gone by, it was considered improper to "ask" a set fee for services rendered. However, today, you may find a "suggested" donation for those in public service. In a recent survey, it was found the average gratuity was between $50 and $75. If travel is involved, an additional gratuity is expected.

Clergymen, Rabbis, Priests: No less than a $75 donation is considered proper and it is rare to find anyone giving less than a $100 gratuity for the wedding officiant. This donation should be given to the best man prior to the ceremony. Following the proceedings, he will then give it to the officiant. If travel is involved, an additional gratuity is appreciated.

Organist and Musician: Fees for church organists and musicians are often included in the rental fee for the church. When this is not the case, a gratuity of no less than $35 is appropriate, but in a recent survey, the average was $50 for each person. When the organist and musician (soloist) are close friends of the couple or family, the gratuity averaged $75.

When are rectangle banquet tables a great choice for your reception? High ceilings. Tall windows. Massive floor space. You've fallen head over heals with a room that needs filling. The solution: Stretch your tables. Set these long, lean shapes in organized rows or in a U-shaped formation. Watch how the lines of color saturate your party room.

1. Reach High - Break up the long narrow, tables with height. This gives your tables some dimension. Be creative: Vases and candle sticks are great.
